It depends on what kind of dj you are. As a mobile dj, NI Traktor Pro 2 is the best for me.

Wow RuDeDoGG really loves Virtual DJ... but so do I! for me the main selling point is the ability to map any midi controller to almost any function you can think of, so you can personalize any settings. I also find that since the upgrade of 6.0 (it's now at 7.0) there has been no stability issues whatsoever on my system, and the audio engine while just not quite on par with traktor and serato, is improving all the time, but I'm talking listening to it through studio monitors, normal (compressed) systems sound the same.
The one thing I find bad about VDJ is that some of the plugin effects sound cheap, although vdj has the ability to run vsti effects which can ease the pain a bit.
I use VDJ with an acer dual core, 2.8ghz, 4gig ram, windows 7, timecode vinyl, and an audio 8, serato vinyls & M447's, I find that the timecode engine is fantastic in absolute mode with no drift and great latency, if you go relative you get a little drift, but all digital vinyl systems do that, the only time I ever hear crackling is when I beat juggle as fast as I can in absolute mode but as soon as you drop the record it corrects it self with an echo, which can sound cool if you use it right.
I personally beatmatch by ear, to to the whingers who said sync doesn't work, It's because you need to adjust the computer beat grid before hand (just like traktor) but you would know that if you read the manual, although that probably doesn't come with the illegal cracked version... LMAO

Yeah you're right but since I never use the sync function even on VDJ it doesn't matter whether Serato has one or not. Using ANY computer program regardless of whether its VDJ or Serato can still be considered cheating to a die hard turntablist, because of the wave forms and the digital bpm readings you don't have to rely on your ears as much to beat match like back in my vinyl days where we didn't have any program to help us. Like I said earlier, a software program is helpful to me in doing more, not doing my job. The thing is if you want it to do all the work for you, you can, but that doesn't mean it will sound good, that's where the skills of a REAL DJ come in.

DJ RuDeDoGG - Serato does not have a sync feature, unless you are counting the waveform display where you can line up the peaks and valleys. You still have to do this manually, there is no "Auto Sync" button like on VDJ.

I am from L.A. Cali. I use Virtual DJ and play live shows too and I showcase my talent. I don't need a DJ program to mix for me, that's not why I use one. What it does is enhance my show. Don't let these guys who call us "microwave DJs" while they do shows using Serato!? lol, they are using a program too!! Serato has its own sync functions as well. I never use a "pre-mixed set" or auto-mix feature. Hell no, that's not what being a DJ is. In that case bring a jukebox. No way, I do a live show while VDJ enhances my set with loops, samples and video visualizations and other features where a computer is needed. In no way does it take away from my 25 years of experience where I started out with vinyl, that vinyl experience I have just make me that much better as a computer DJ. I still beat-match manually. VDJ doesn't take that away from you, but like Serato you can sync on the fly if you choose to.

BTW, I use all Pioneer equipment with Virtual DJ, two CDJ-400 CD/USB and a DJM-800. Like the guy using Ableton (which is an awesome program too) I get people who come up to me and ask what remix that was too and I tell them it was mine and they can't believe it. Virtual DJ has so many effects, sampling abilities, looping and countless other features, all the tools you need to create your own "remix" is there. You also get music video playback, scratching, transitions, effects and etc that come\ with the package at no extra charge. Most other programs such as Serato you have to pay extra to play music video and it doesn't even come close in quality and effects. When I play music only I like the Sonique visualizations (similar to the screen graphics on windows media player), people love it when I do a show with my LCD screens playing and mixing music videos and visualizations while I mix it up the music. It really compliments my DJ laser light show and LED DJ lights. It's simply an awesome all-in-one program that also offers free upgrades for life and a community/forum for help and tips/hints, a great bunch of professional DJ's with years of experience and advice at your disposal, you can't beat it.

Virtual DJ 6.0.1 is by far the best out there. I own Serato Scratch Live 1.9, Pioneer DJS, Traktor Scratch Pro, Ableton, PCDJ (all), MixVibes and other programs and all are pretty good and have their strong points but none have all the features and options that VDJ has. Don't listen to these guys who say otherwise, they are probably having equipment issues or just don't know what they are doing. I can’t tell you how many DJ's I have encountered who badmouthed VDJ until I showed them that their equipment was malfunctioning or they didn't have it set up properly. The other few people who have had problems I found were using a cracked copy of it which explains their dilemma. Good quality equipment and setting it up properly makes all the difference in the world. I have been a DJ for a long time and I know what works good. Serato is great and so is Traktor and MixVibes but they just don't compare to VDJ. It isn't a complicated program to install and dial in, but anything that's as good as VDJ takes proper time to set up and configure. I'll bet more than 75% of the people who talk trash about VDJ have inferior equipment and are using a cracked, stolen copy. Beware of all the marketing hype from the other companies. Too many people fall victim to commercialist hype, Serato this…Traktor that…all these people have fell victim to the marketing blitz and follow like a bunch of sheep of a cliff. Virtual DJ is the number 1 DJ software in the world and they don’t even really advertise like the other companies, they don’t have to, the software sells itself. If you have a legal copy and good hardware? You will find out what I mean.

I enjoy mixing it up, i am certainly no pro but i do a few functions for a little extra cash. i started on AtomixMp3, then moved to virtualdj. all this was mixed with a keyboard and mouse - i hated it (it looked really geeky)and limited. I decided to get my first console, a BCD2000 with B-DJ. I have one comment for it, "avoid it like the plague." It kept crashing on me and would have to revert to ipod or my Stanton CD500 CD players as backup. I would love to play on vinyl as i believe it is the way of the DJ. But where i live, you lucky to find a shop that sells any decent music regardless of what media it comes in. I am now looking at getting a new consol. i have used VDJ and enjoy it but it has at times given me a headache. I see alot of consoles are being bundled with traktor le 3. What is worth my while, staying with VDJ and getting the hurcules or learning Traktor and get either a numark or reloop console. would love some help on this.
One more thing, i don't care if i have to learn beat matching by ear or learn how to press a sync button, just as long as we all have a great party and the program is stable.
